Dr. Giovanni Jubiz obtained his MD. from Del Norte University in Colombia. In 2001, he finished his first residency in Medical Genetics and a Master’s degree in Human Genetics from Javeriana University. By starting the same year as assistant professor, he becomes one of the youngest members in the faculty of medicine in the Department of Medical Genetics. One year later, he obtained his second specialty in Clinical Biochemistry with a major in inborn error of the metabolism. His research interests were centered on the immunogenetics of different diseases such as the recurrent miscarriage and actinic prúrigo.
In the fall of 2002, Dr. Jubiz enrolled in a Medical Genetics PhD program at Washington DC. During this time he was trained in different molecular genetics techniques and conducted a research in neuroscience and genetics by studying the neurogenesis of the brainstem from stem cells. His unique findings were met with marked enthusiasm and received awards of recognition in three national meetings including Outstanding Basic Science Poster Presentation Award of the Eastern-Atlantic Student Research Forum in 2004, and the Acres of Diamonds Award of the Minority Trainee Research Forum in 2004, as well as a notable mention in the university newspaper.
After obtaining his PhD in Genetics, Dr Jubiz decided to continue his education in the OB/GYN field at Lincoln Hospital in New York.
He completed his third residency in 2012 and joined the faculty of the USF-MPM Family Medicine Residency.
Currently Dr Jubiz is responsible for the curriculum in obstetrics.
Dr. Jubiz enjoys weekend outings with his wife and three daughters, and his passion for sport cars.
