Morton Plant Hospital Orthopaedic Surgeons Team up with Tampa Bay Storm to Showcase Latest Treatments for Healthy Joints|
CLEARWATER, Fla., (December 1, 2004) -To educate the public about arthritis and the many new technologies now available to treat this disease, orthopaedic surgeons practicing at Morton Plant Hospital, joined by players from the Tampa Bay Storm Arena Football team, will be hosting an open house on Saturday, December 4, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., at Morton Plant Hospital, 300 Pinellas Street, Clearwater, FL.
With more than 37 million Americans suffering from its symptoms, arthritis has become the most crippling disease in the United States. Of the many forms of arthritis, osteoarthritis (also called degenerative arthritis) is the most common, affecting 16 million people in the United States alone.
Discussions with orthopaedic surgeons and displays will be shown in a unique mobile "classroom on wheels". The open house will showcase treatment procedures and products designed to improve the quality of life for arthritis sufferers. Orthopaedic surgeons specializing in joint replacement surgery will be available to answer questions. A selection of the latest orthopaedic implants available for arthritic treatment will be on display. In addition, Tampa Bay Storm quarterback Shane Stafford, top rusher Nyle Wiren and star wide receiver Lawrence Samuels will be on hand to sign autographs.
This open house will provide important benefits to the community:
* Arthritis sufferers will have the opportunity to become more familiar with the disease
* Attendees will learn about the latest treatment options for arthritis, including total joint replacement surgery
* Actual joint replacements will be available for a hands-on learning experience
The open house will take place in the parking lot of Morton Plant Hospital, the south side. The event is free to the public. Reservations are recommended, but not required. For additional information, please call the hospital call center at (727) 462-7500.
