Morton Plant Named a "Top 100" Hospital for Overall Quality of Care|
CLEARWATER, Fla. (May 28, 2004)---In a study released May 24th in Modern Healthcare magazine, Morton Plant Hospital was ranked as a 100 Top Hospital. Using data from more than 6,000 hospitals across the country, the "Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success" study evaluated acute care hospitals for overall quality of care, operational efficiency, financial performance and adaptation to the environment.

The 100 Top Hospitals study analyzed acute care hospitals nationwide using detailed empirical performance data from 2002, including publicly available MedPAR data and Medicare cost reports. Facilities recognized on the list are represented in five hospital categories: major teaching, teaching, large community, medium community and small community. Morton Plant Hospital was ranked in the teaching hospital category.
With the most recent study, Morton Plant has a total of 11 Top 100 Hospital designations including Overall in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003; five consecutive Top 100 recognitions for cardiovascular care in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003; and one for orthopaedic care in 2000 and one for stroke care in 2000.
