Morton Plant Mease Primary Care Physician Inducted as Fellow of the American College of Physicians

CLEARWATER, Fla. (May 27, 2004)---David A. Bernstein, MD, Morton Plant Mease Primary Care physician, was recently inducted as a fellow of the American College of Physicians in an awards ceremony during the society's annual meeting in New Orleans. He was elected as a fellow for his achievements in internal medicine and the specialty of adult medical care. Dr. Bernstein is board certified in internal medicine with added qualifications in geriatric medicine.

The American College of Physicians (ACP) is the second largest physicians group in the United States. Membership includes more than 115,000 internists, related sub specialists and medical students. Internists are specialists in the prevention, detection and treatment of illnesses in adults. Fellows are elected based upon the recommendation of their peers and the review of the ACP's credentials subcommittee.

A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., Dr. Bernstein earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his residency training at University of South Florida affiliated hospitals. He is a member of the Pinellas County Medical Society, Florida Medical Association and the American Medical Association. In addition, Dr. Bernstein is the chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee for Morton Plant Mease and a member of the BayCare Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee.
