Morton Plant Mease Provides Free Sports Physicals to Pinellas County Student Athletes|
CLEARWATER, Fla., (March 21, 2012) – Morton Plant Mease’s sports medicine program will provide physicians, certified athletic trainers and physical therapists to offer Pinellas County high school student-athletes free sports physicals again this year.
The exams include checks of height, weight, blood pressure, vision, lungs and musculoskeletal system. Pediatric cardiac nurses will be available for heart health screenings. The Morton Plant Mease Lung Center will also be on hand to offer students information on managing asthma symptoms. If a student is found to have a medical condition and needing additional treatment, the student will be referred to a Morton Plant Mease specialist at a later date.
The free sports physicals will be offered on the following dates at two locations:

The sports physicals will be on a first come, first served basis. All student athletes are required by the Florida High School Athletic Association to complete a physical evaluation before participating in high school sporting activities. Student athletes under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or registration forms must be pre-signed. The exams done by Morton Plant Mease are complimentary, however, a small fee may be required by some schools to support their booster clubs.
