Renowned Surgeon Leaves a Lasting Legacy to Health Community|
Bardmoor Outpatient Center Pavilion Named In Her Honor
CLEARWATER, Fla., (October 4, 2011) – Morton Plant Hospital’s first female chief of surgery, Zena Lansky MD, will always be remembered for her dedication to advancing the quality of health care in our community and her generous gifts in support of the not-for-profit hospitals of Morton Plant Mease. To honor her and her latest generous $1.5 million commitment to the Morton Plant Mease Foundation, the pavilion at the Bardmoor Outpatient Center now bears her name. The Lansky Pavilion at Bardmoor Outpatient Center is located at 8787 Bryan Dairy Road, Largo, Florida 33777.
“For more than four decades, Dr. Lansky has been a pioneer for women in health care and very supportive of innovative, accessible and high-quality health care,” said Holly Duncan, president of the Morton Plant Mease Foundation. “We are so proud of her accomplishments and her philanthropic commitment to the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease.”
In addition to being the first female chief of surgery, she was the first female member on the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Lansky was a founding board member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, an organization that improves patient care by advancing the science and practice of nutrition support therapy. She was at the forefront in developing solutions of carbohydrates, proteins and fats for patients who were unable to absorb those nutrients and invented devices to deliver the solutions to the body through tubes.
In addition to lecturing on nutritional support therapy across the country, she pioneered the program at Morton Plant. Today, Dr. Lansky enjoys retirement from the medical profession and continues her philanthropic work.
Located in Largo at the corner of Starkey and Bryan Dairy roads, the Bardmoor Outpatient Center consists of three buildings.
- The Lansky Pavilion with physician offices, advanced diagnostic services, including open MRI, digital mammography and a 64-slice CT scanner, surgery center for same-day procedures and BayCare Laboratories for outpatient testing, the Nature’s Table café, YMCA fitness center and The Marketplace retail store.
- Bardmoor Medical Art Building which includes the Bardmoor Emergency Center, physician offices and a Morton Plant Mease Sleep Disorders Center.
- Bardmoor Outpatient Rehabilitation which provides physical therapy for a wide range of orthopedic and neurological diagnoses.
