Volunteers Needed For Morton Plant Mease Prostate Cancer Awareness Race

CLEARWATER, Fla., (August 24, 2011) – The Morton Plant Mease Foundation is recruiting a team of dedicated volunteers to assist with next month’s second Morton Plant Mease Foundation Prostate Cancer Awareness Race.

The family-friendly 5K run/walk is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10 and starts at 7:30 a.m. on the Morton Plant Hospital campus, with the route taking runners through surrounding neighborhoods.

Volunteers can be part of this event by assisting in positions such as athlete check-in, water station, course marshal and finish line. Volunteers will receive a commemorative race T-shirt and access to food and beverages.

The event hopes to build on last year’s successful inaugural event that attracted more than 500 participants, including a number of prostate cancer survivors.

The race is part of Morton Plant Mease’s recognition of September as National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Awareness events will include screenings and lectures.
