North Bay Hospital Changes Name to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital|
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (January 16, 2003)---To complete the transition initiated when Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater acquired North Bay Hospital in 1999, North Bay has officially changed its name to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital.
"Our name change represents the final step of our partnership with Morton Plant hospital. Our commitment to high quality, compassionate care will continue," said Bill Jennings, administrator and chief operating officer of Morton Plant North Bay Hospital. The new name will be visible over the next few weeks in advertisements and signage.
"Since we became part of Morton Plant, we have been working to bring its values and level of medical and nursing excellence to the West Pasco community," noted Jennings. A few of the changes Morton Plant North Bay has originated over the last three years include improving the nurse to patient ratio, opening the cardiac catheterization and a sleep disorders center, expanding the emergency room and adding fast track care and introducing HealthRide, a free transportation service for patients and family members.
"In addition to the quality of services, we can efficiently access the Morton Plant network to provide our patients with specialized care including comprehensive cancer services through Morton Plant's relationship with H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute at the University of South Florida, Tampa," said Jennings.
Morton Plant Hospital has received numerous national recognitions. In 2002, Morton Plant was named one of America's Top 50 Hospitals, according to AARP Modern Maturity magazine and a 100 Top Hospital in the "Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success" study for the fourth consecutive year.
