Morton Plant Mease Offers Diabetes Support Groups to Help People With Diabetes Manage Disease|
CLEARWATER, Fla., (February 23, 2011) - Morton Plant Mease Diabetes Education Center will offer diabetes support groups beginning in March. Approximately one in ten Americans suffer with diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association. If current obesity trends don't change, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates one in three people will be diagnosed with diabetes in 2050 as a result of poor diet and lack of exercise.
"For people with diabetes, it is especially important to manage the disease with the proper medications, foods and exercise," said Susan Boston, MD, Morton Plant Mease endocrinologist. "Our diabetes management support groups can help keep people with diabetes motivated to stay on the right track in managing their diabetes."
