Reduce Risk of Heart Disease Through Creative Expression|
CLEARWATER,Fla.,(January 25, 2011)-Taking care of your heart and minimizing stress are some keys to a longer healthier life. During American Heart Month, Morton Plant Mease offers C.R.A.Y.O.N.S, an interactive event that focuses on the importance of making time in your life for play, creative expression and developing strategies for living fully in the present moment. Improving your attitude through creative expression and play can help reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
At the free interactive event, guests will be able to be creative through art work and writing, learning creative expression for wellness, balance, self-discovery and reflection. Attendees will also develop strategies for intentional play and coping mechanisms through humor.
Julia Balzer Riley, RN, MN, AHN-BC, REACE, will be the speaker at the C.R.A.Y.O.N.S In Our Palette seminar. C.R.A.Y.O.N.S will be held on February 18, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Heritage Springs, Performing Arts Center located at 11345 Robert Trent Jones Parkway, Trinity, FL.
"With an environment of people working more than 40 hours a week and having other responsibilities, adults don't make time to play but it is beneficial to our well being," said Riley. "Playing reduces the risk of depression and is essential in that it is exercise for our brain, keeping it sharp and reducing stress on our heart."
