Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Recovery Center to Open
St. Joseph’s Hospital to add Children’s Mental Health Acute Care and Break Ground on New Recovery Center
CLEARWATER, FL, (June 22, 2010)—As part of its continued commitment to meeting the mental health needs of the Tampa Bay community, this summer BayCare Behavioral Health will open the Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Recovery Center in Lutz and add 10 beds for children’s mental health acute care at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. Also, in July BayCare Behavioral Health will break ground on St. Joseph’s Hospital Recovery Center, a 60-bed acute care mental health facility for adults and children.
Morton Plant North Bay Hospital Recovery Center is a 72-bed acute care, behavioral health facility to treat adults, children and adolescents. Opening as a 10-bed child and adolescent crisis center, the facility plans to be fully operational with 16 children and adolescent beds and 56 adult beds this summer.
The Recovery Center will provide a full-range of behavioral health services for adults, children and adolescents who require inpatient care. The facility, located at 21808 State Road 54 in Lutz, has been completely re-built to create an atmosphere that promotes healing and ensures patient safety. Patients will receive treatment for inpatient psychiatric crisis stabilization, crisis intervention and support in a tranquil environment. Morton Plant North Bay Recovery Center is also the only hospital-based children’s mental health facility in Pasco County.
“We are committed to providing our patients with a complete range of behavioral health and wellness treatment options that are focused on the needs of each individual patient,” said John Sheehan, Vice President, BayCare Behavioral Health. “As a health care partner to the Tampa Bay area for more than 30 years, we are constantly striving to meet the changing needs of our community. By developing a safe environment that is conducive to healing, patients can focus on their recovery. And after patients leave our recovery center, we continue to work with them to coordinate proper follow-up care that care that focuses on their long-term recovery.”
To further meet the needs of the community, in early July, St. Joseph’s Hospital will add 10 beds to its main hospital in Tampa for the in-patient treatment of children and adolescents with mental health disorders. St. Joseph’s Hospital will offer the only acute care, inpatient behavioral health treatment facility for children and adolescents in Hillsborough County. Similar to Morton Plant North Bay Recovery Center, these patients will receive inpatient psychiatric crisis stabilization, crisis intervention and support.
BayCare Behavioral Health will also be breaking ground in July on the St. Joseph’s Hospital Recovery Center, a 60-bed acute care, mental health facility for adults and children. When the facility opens in 2011, it will have 40 adult beds and 20 beds for children and adolescents. The facility is located at 4918 N. Habana Avenue in Tampa.
