Volunteers Needed for Morton Plant Mease Triathlon

CLEARWATER, Fla., (June 10, 2010) – Approximately one thousand participants are expected to compete in the Fifth Annual Morton Plant Mease Triathlon presented by the Skip Cline Leadership Society at Sand Key Park on Sunday, June 27, 2010. Morton Plant Mease Triathlon is recruiting a team of dedicated volunteers to assist these competitors as they swim, bike and run to the finish. Volunteers can be part of this exciting event by assisting in positions such as athlete check-in, body marking, water station, course marshal and finish line. Volunteers will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and access to food and beverages. To volunteer, please contact Felicia Leonard via email: The Morton Plant Mease Triathlon kicks off at 6:50 a.m. with a 1/3-mile open water swim at Sand Key Park. From there, participants will bike 13 miles through Clearwater Beach, over the Memorial Causeway and through Clearwater. The final leg consists of a 3.1 mile run in Sand Key Park. The registration fee is $75 per individual and $95 per relay team. Entry fees are non-refundable. Online registration closes on June 22 and no registration will be offered on day of race. Registration capacity is limited to 1000 entries. The Morton Plant Mease Triathlon has also again been chosen as the 2010 USAT Florida Region Junior Championship.
