BayCare Outpatient Center Increases Access to Health Care in Northwest Hillsborough County
TAMPA, FL, (September 23, 2009)—As part of its commitment to advancing superior health care, BayCare Health System is opening a new outpatient center and making more health care services available to residents living in the Westchase and Northwest Hillsborough County area. It is the first outpatient facility to carry the BayCare name.
“Our BayCare Outpatient Center marks a milestone for our organization, as it is the first outpatient center to carry the BayCare name. It brings physicians and team members from both St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsborough County and Morton Plant Mease in Pinellas County together to meet the needs of this growing region,” said Denton Crockett, Jr., senior vice president, ambulatory services, BayCare Health System.
To celebrate the opening of BayCare Outpatient Center, the public is invited to the October 10th Grand Opening Celebration and Fall Fest located in the Main Street at Hampton Lakes Plaza, 12780 Race Track Road, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This free, family event includes music, food, children’s crafts and games including mobile electronic gaming, a children’s costume contest, a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce houses, dance and karate demonstrations and prizes There will also be free health screenings for diabetes, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and prostate cancer (PSA). A canned food drive is also being held and the public is encouraged to bring non-perishable foods in non-breakable packaging to be donated to Tampa Bay Harvest. The event is hosted by the Learning Express, Sweetbay Supermarket, BayCare Outpatient Center and the Main Street at Hampton Lakes Plaza.
The new BayCare Outpatient Center includes a lab patient service center, sleep disorders center and physicians specializing in orthopedics, pediatrics, primary care, sleep disorders and urology. It also offers comprehensive imaging services including digital mammography and x-rays, a high-field open MRI, multi-slice CT, upgraded bone density studies, and 4-D ultrasound.
“Our goal is to make it easy for patients to access our services so that they can use our network of care across Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties to achieve the best possible health for themselves and their families,” said Crockett.
Tenants of BayCare Outpatient Center are BayCare Imaging Center, BayCare Laboratories, Morton Plant Mease Sleep Disorders Center, Morton Plant Mease Primary Care, Florida Sports Orthopaedic & Spine Medicine, North Pinellas Children’s Medical Center, West Florida Urology, and Healthpoint Management Services.
BayCare Outpatient Center is a $15 million dollar facility with 52,000 square feet of space, supporting primary and specialty care. The center officially opened its doors to the community in August. The developer for the project is the Graham Group, Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa. The architectural firm is TRO Jung/Brannen based in Boston, Massachusetts and the general contractor is Diaz Fritz Isabel of Tampa, Florida.
