Morton Plant Hospital's Countryside Health Education Center Hosts Family Day Cooking School
01/06/2005

CLEARWATER, Fla. (March 25, 2002)---Learn how to cook as a family on Saturday, April 6, 2002 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Morton Plant Hospital's Countryside Health Education Center at Countryside Mall, which hosts the Family Day Cooking School. Keith Esbin, who cooks at the various restaurants at the Hyatt Regency Westshore including Armanis and Oystercatchers, will teach hands-on techniques.

"The Family Day Cooking School was designed to promote fun and healthy cooking as a cooperative family activity," said Carla Breedlove, manager of the Countryside Health Education Center. "The three scheduled classes will teach families how to create fruit carvings, roll sushi, and prepare a salad that even kids will like."

Classes are:

* Carving and garnishing fruit---learn the basics of carving and garnishing. During the class, students will create a dolphin, swan or flower out of fruit.

* Introduction to sushi making---learn how to properly cook sushi rice and create maki rolls, hand rolls and nigri sushi. All students can participate in the sushi smorgasbord at the end of class.

* Fun with salads---learn how to make vinaigrette and some of the salads on the restaurants' menu at the Hyatt Regency Westshore.

Each class will be approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes with a one-time school entrance fee of $12 per parent, $5 per child (5 and above) or $35 for a family of five, with all food and materials included in this fee. Available seating is limited to 45 people.
