Health Care at your Doorstep, Morton Plant Hospital Launches Mobile Self-Health Service
02/01/2005

CLEARWATER, Fla., (February 1, 2005)- Comprehensive health screenings are coming to a community near you, as Morton Plant Hospital's outpatient organization takes it's Self-Health service on the road. From a "health express bus, " Mobile Self-Health is equipped with the latest technologies to screen for medical conditions such as stroke, aneurysms, arterial disease, diabetes and osteoporosis.

"Mobile Self-Health is about making health screenings accessible and convenient," said Philip K. Beauchamp, president and chief executive officer, Morton Plant Hospital. "By taking screenings out into the community, we have an opportunity to literally improve the health of the community by diagnosing diseases at earlier stages and by educating people about potential risks to their health," said Beauchamp.

Utilizing a mobile clinic in a "health express bus," Morton Plant's Mobile Self-Health will bring clinicians to perform screening tests to community centers, shopping centers, residential communities and more. "Patients can have an ultrasound examination of their carotid artery, a bone density test or simply have their blood pressure and cholesterol checked right in their own neighborhood," said John Couris, vice president of health services, Morton Plant Hospital. All standard health system processes will be used for handling tests and test results.
