Chemical Dependency
Adult Dual Diagnosis Inpatient Program
The Dual Diagnosis Program at Morton Plant Hospital was created to help adults suffering from co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. The program is designed as a short term intervention to help stabilize life imbalances related to primary psychiatric illness and substance use, and includes linking participants to the next level of care appropriate to their specific needs.
Treatment is highly individualized and provided through collaboration of an interdisciplinary team of professionals and community based support networks. The program combines three evidence based therapies to engage participants in the change process, to develop skills for managing psychiatric conditions and substance use and to introduce participants to community support.
Admission to the program is voluntary, and participants must be willing to be actively involved in the treatment process every day of the week. The schedule includes group and individual therapy, educational groups, leisure, recreational and wellness activities and engagement with 12-step support meetings within the facility.
Each participant will have a thorough health assessment to determine immediate detoxification and stabilization needs, medication management and a therapist to develop a participant-focused plan for recovery. Family members and significant others are encouraged to be involved in the treatment process.
