Nursing Education Opportunities
We know that growing and developing your nursing career is very important. You can rest assured that we’re committed to the professional growth and development of our nursing staff. That’s why we’ve created extensive education and development programs for nurses. Here’s a look at many of the opportunities available to our nursing team.
Clinical Nursing Residency Currently, we are not accepting new candidates for this program
To provide RNs with opportunities for professional growth, personal satisfaction, recognition, and economic rewards based on their contributions to quality patient care, Morton Plant Mease has developed the Professional Nurse Clinical Ladder. This system is based on the possession of critically required knowledge and skills at specified levels of the ladder.
Graduate nurses enter the Clinical Ladder in the Clinical Nurse Resident (CNR) role and are placed in the Clinical Nurse Residency. This program is designed to assist the novice nurse in making a positive transition from the academic to the acute care hospital setting. The residency lasts approximately 180 days. During the first 6 weeks, the CNR is paired with an experienced RN. After that, the CNR is provided with a designated resource person as he or she gains the necessary competencies to advance to the Clinical Nurse role.
Qualifications for the Clinical Nursing Residency are:
- Graduate of an accredited diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree nursing program
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida
- Letter of reference from faculty or health care employer
