Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus

Normal pressure hydrocephalus is a brain disorder caused by blockage of the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Symptoms may vary but usually are gradually progressive. Often an early manifestation is the gait disorder (imbalance). As the disorder progresses, it causes memory loss (dementia).

Treatment Options
Carefully selected patients benefit from the surgical implantation of a shunt to discharge the excess fluid.
