Morton Plant Mease Health Care is proud of our many accomplishments. Take a look at what our physicians and team members recently achieved together:

Morton Plant Mease Health Care

  • BayCare team members raised a record total of more than $153,000 for the American Heart Association's Tampa Bay Start! Heart Walk. Morton Plant Mease did its part by raising more than $60,000, almost three times its 2008 total.
  • The Morton Plant Mease Triathlon, sponsored by the Skip Cline Young Leadership Society, welcomed a record field to Clearwater Beach, as nearly 1,100 athletes took part in the swim/bike/run competition. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Morton Plant Mease Foundation. 
  • More than 1,300 community members attended "Fall Into Good Health," a free, family event featuring free health screenings at the Morton Plant Mease Outpatient Center in Trinity.  
  • Morton Plant Mease physicians and nurse practitioners conducted free skin cancer screenings to more than 250 people at the 13th annual Melanoma Monday, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness and encourage early detection of skin cancers.
  • More than 4,000 people attended this year's Pitch for Pink, a Class A baseball game held at the Clearwater Threshers' Brighthouse Field. The game benefited local breast health services and programs of Morton Plant Mease and the Morton Plant Mease Foundation.
  • Combining stroke awareness and a day of sun and baseball, the inaugural Strike Out Stroke was held at a Dunedin Blue Jays Class A baseball game. Nearly $2,000 was raised toward the Morton Plant Mease Foundation, and more than 200 stroke assessments were performed.

Morton Plant Hospital

  • Morton Plant Hospital is named a Top 100 heart hospital by Thomson Reuter's 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success study for 11 consecutive years - the only hospital in the United States to receive this honor.
  • Recognized for achieving high quality outcomes, the Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Morton Plant Hospital was awarded the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
  • The Madonna Ptak Morton Plant Rehabilitation Center was awarded the 2009 Step II National Quality Award. The award recognizes long-term health care facilities that have demonstrated a continuous commitment to quality care. 
  • Morton Plant Hospital joined Project Boost, a year-long training program designed to keep patients from re-hospitalization.

Mease Dunedin Hospital

  • Mease Dunedin Hospital celebrated the opening of its Critical Care Unit, offering 20 private rooms and 360-degree access for nurses and physicians. The construction is part of a multi-phase project that will encompass 51,000 square feet of renovation, and 4,000 square feet of new construction at the hospital.

Mease Countryside Hospital

  • Expanding the health care services offered to north Pinellas and south Pasco communities, the Mease Countryside Emergency Cardiac Center was granted approval to perform percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), also known as an angioplasty.
  • Mease Countryside Hospital and St. Joseph's Children's Hospital announced a partnership to strengthen and advance children's care in north Pinellas and south Pasco counties. Called St. Joseph's Children's at Morton Plant Mease, the partnership brings more access to innovative and high-tech care in a family-centered setting.

Morton Plant North Bay Hospital

  • Phase I of the construction and renovation project for Morton Plant North Bay Hospital's three-story, patient wing was completed, marked by a topping out ceremony. The new wing will be named the Starkey Medical Tower in honor of Jay B and Marsha Starkey's $1 million donation toward the hospital. 
  • Morton Plant North Bay Hospital became the first BayCare hospital to go live with Phase II of BEACON, the seven-year, three-phase project to create a system-wide electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Recognized for its positive impact on the community, Morton Plant North Bay Hospital was selected one of the Businesses of the Year at the Pasco Economic Development Council's 23rd Annual Business Appreciation Banquet. Morton Plant North Bay won in the Special Contribution award in the not-for-profit category. The hospital was noted for its "expansion, new technology, clinical program development, sponsorships, nursing excellence, support of the under and uninsured and team member involvement within the community."
  • The Morton Plant North Bay Hospital campus joined a Pasco County initiative toward supporting a healthy lifestyle by becoming a tobacco-free campus.
