Woman who have undergone gynecological surgery receive expert postoperative care in a special inpatient unit of Morton Plant Hospital that is dedicated specifically to GYN surgical patients. Here, highly trained and knowledgeable nurses understand the special nature of GYN surgery and recovery. They are able to address the unique needs of patients following from general gynecological procedures as well as provide the complex level of care required by gynecological cancer surgery patients. In addition, these nurses are totally committed to offering the respect, understanding and compassion they believe each woman deserves.

Our surgeons employ the most current surgical techniques available including minimally invasive techniques such as:
- Robotic-assisted technology for gynecological cancer as well as for non-cancer related hysterectomies
- Uterine Fibroid Embolization
- Laproscopic surgical techniques
Some common gynecological surgical procedures
- Hysterectomy: (abdominal, vaginal, radical, laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy) removal of part or all of the uterus to treat uterine cancer, fibroid tumors, endometriosis, uterine prolapse, or other conditions of the uterus
- Laparoscopy: (diagnostic and operative) minimally invasive procedure in which a lighted telescope is inserted into a small incision in the navel to look inside the abdomen
- Colporrhaphy: surgical repair of the vagina, which may be necessary after childbirth or injury
- Myomectomy: removal of myomas (uterine fibroids) from the uterus
- Dilatation and curettage: the cervix is dilated (expanded) and the lining of the uterus (endometrium) is gently scraped away
- Oopharectomy: the removal of an ovary
- Salpingectomy: the removal of a fallopian tube
- Endometrial ablation: removal of the uterine lining to reduce abnormal bleeding
