BayCare Health System is a joint operating agreement formed in 1997 among the Tampa Bay area's leading hospitals, creating the region's only full-service, community-owned healthcare system.  These hospitals are unique, and each share a reputation in their respective communities that is unmatched.

The structure of BayCare Health System is very unique and may be the only one of its kind in the nation.  Three Community Health Alliances, or CHA's, are organized around specific geographic areas in the Tampa Bay area and poised to serve the unique needs of the communities there.  They are Morton Plant Mease Health Care serving Pinellas and Pasco Counties, St. Anthony's Health Care serving South Pinellas County, and St. Joseph's-Baptist Health Care serving Hillsborough and Polk Counties.

BayCare's commitment to consolidate duplicative, nonpatient care services like purchasing, human resources, administration, information services and financial services has proven successful.  To date, BayCare's estimated operating savings are more than 90 million.
